PREREQUISITES:

recommendation: an introductory course in linguistics
suggestion for those interested in formal linguistic theories (can be taken in parallel, only in the first term):

SYLLABUS:

  1. levels of linguistic description, language as a collection of (linguistic) phenomena, description of language as an account of the interaction of linguistic phenomena
  2. basic structure of a simple Czech sentence (description of basic word order and valency)
  3. simple feature structure, unification, lexicon
  4. description of subject-predicate agreement in a simple sentence
  5. complex feature structure, linguistic categories as a hierarchy of types
  6. semantic interpretation of language expressions
  7. description of a simple free modification (adverbial, congruent attribute)
  8. abstract description of valency, formal tools for a general description of valency frames
  9. list as a feature value, disjunction
  10. case assignment
